- What stages do we invest in?We invest from Pre-Seed to Series A, with a strong focus on Seed. We typically lead or co-lead rounds and stay close to our companies from day one. Our geographic focus is Brazil first, with opportunistic investments across Latin America, including global companies built out of the region.
- What type of startups does 14B look for?We look for three things. First, experienced founders: repeat entrepreneurs or deep domain experts who know their category inside out. Second, original businesses — companies creating and leading new categories with truly distinct solutions born from local needs, rather than adapting international models. Third, the ability to compete globally: products proven locally with the potential to win far beyond Brazil. We have a strong bias toward B2B, with preferred sectors including Fintech, Healthcare, and B2B SaaS.
- How does 14B add value to founders?We're not passive capital. Our partners have built, scaled, and exited companies — so we work as hands-on thought partners: analytical, direct, and honest, often becoming the founder's first call. In practice, that means dedicated partner time on strategy and governance, access to specialized experts in the most common early-stage pain points (like sales and talent), and warm introductions to enterprise customers, follow-on investors, and advisors in Brazil and the US. Our diligence starts adding value before we even invest — and our founders are our best reference.
- Do you invest in companies outside Brazil?Our core focus is Brazil, and we invest opportunistically across Latin America. The important nuance: we're big believers in global companies built out of Brazil and LatAm. Several of our portfolio companies were founded by Brazilian entrepreneurs, proved their product locally, and are now winning customers in the US and beyond — some with founders based in the US leading that expansion. So if you're a Brazilian or LatAm founder building for the world, you're squarely within our thesis, regardless of where you're incorporated or living today.
- Do you invest in B2C or pre-revenue companies?We have a strong bias toward B2B — it's where we've found the most success and where our network and expertise add the most value. We'll occasionally look at B2C when the founder and the opportunity are exceptional, but it's the exception, not the rule. Pre-revenue is a different story: we invest from Pre-Seed, and several of our portfolio companies had zero revenue when we wrote our first check. At that stage, we're underwriting the founder and the originality of the business, not the traction. If you're an experienced founder or deep domain expert going after a big problem, don't wait for revenue to talk to us.
- How are you different from other LatAm funds?Three things. First, concentration: we make few, deliberate investments and take meaningful ownership in each one — every company in our portfolio matters to us, so you'll never be just a logo in a spray-and-pray strategy. Second, our team profile: we pair one of the most experienced VC investors in Brazil with a four-time founder who has built, scaled, and exited — we understand both sides of the table because we've sat on both. Third, engagement: we're hands-on thought partners, often the founder's first call, with a dedicated network of experts and enterprise connections in Brazil and the US. And unlike most of the market, our portfolio is heavily weighted toward original, B2B, globally competitive businesses — not local adaptations of international models.
